Job Summary

Counsel employees regarding Leave programs. Responsible for day-to-day administration of FMLA and Military Leave. Trouble shoot sic/vacation balance issues, advise employees of available leave programs, advocate between employee and supervisor regarding medical leave.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Counsel employees regarding FMLA, SLP, STD, LTD, and military leave policies, as well as other miscellaneous leave programs.
o Review FMLA and SLP applications and corresponding documents with regards to law and policy
o Approve and process FMLA and SLP documents. Stage Absence Event and update Job Data in UT Share
o Process day-to-day correspondence and update employee records in UT Share and Absence Management tracking system
o Post intermittent FMLA monthly usage and communicate balances to employees
2. Communicate with Payroll as needed regarding paid/unpaid status of employees on medical leave
3. Communicate with Records and Benefits regarding employee state service and insurance
4. Provide Dearborn with requested information for STD and LTD claims
5. Research eligibility of Sick Leave Pool applications
6. Post military leave information in UT Share
7. Assist timekeepers with entering retro absence events
o Advise timekeepers with how to complete employee timesheets
8. Approve UT Share leave management access
9. Process vacation/holiday payout vouchers; i.e.
10. Research sick and vacation balances and correct.
11. Enter/delete vacation/sick leave hours for employees who transfer to another State Agency or terminated as requested by Records.
o Research Payroll paid vacation hours due and delete the hours from UT Share.
o Monitor and delete vacation accruals for titles that should not.
12. Performs other duties assigned.



Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field and 3 to 5 years related experience administering leave programs or the equivalent experience.



Preferred Qualifications

Leave of Absence management experience. Leave management experience with People Soft a plus. Intermediate to advance knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS system software. Strong analytical and presentation skills, exceptional interpersonal communication, strong problems solving skills, high level or organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Flexible self- starter.
